An Allied Health Professional is someone who works in any of a wide range of professions related to healthcare other than nursing and medicine, for example a physiotherapist, dietician or radiographer. AHPs are key members of the healthcare team. Please see sections for each profession within AHP to explain their role and links for further information.
CCLG have recently published guidelines on paediatric oncology exercise. Movement is safe, important and beneficial for every child and young person affected by cancer. Benefits to this population can occur from the most basic forms of movement, including getting out of bed and walking to the toilet, all the way through to specific exercise programmes and high intensity physical activities. This guideline aims to empower healthcare providers to safely encourage movement and exercise through the cancer journey and beyond. Please read the full leaflet here.
Lauren McAllister, TYA Physio in NHS GG&C has also developed a number of beneficial physical exercise resources.
